06.03.2015
Since i had a break in between my two semesters,
i decided to hop on an airplane and get out of Finland.
Flying to Amsterdam from Helsinki was rather expensive.
And the cheapest i could get was from Airbaltic.
Air ticket cost: $169.00 Euros
Also, when flying with Airbaltic,
it requires a transfer in Riga.
So the photo was sunrise over at Riga during transfer.
After a good couple of hours, i finally reached Amsterdam!
Bought train tickets over to Amsterdam Central.
And so, after getting up the wrong train and finding the way,
i finally reached! This was how the central station looked like!
Was greeted with such a view outside of the train station.
Just a pity that it was very cloudy at that point!
After which, i went over to the tourist information counter.
It was located on the left of the central station.
And i got the "I amsterdam city card"- 48 hours.
It costed: $59.00 Euros
What does it entitles you to? (Click Here)

Tbh, i was contemplating if i should get the card.
Simply cause it is pretty expensive and i don't know if it is worth it!
But at the end, i think i made full use of the card...
Will elaborate more about it!
Ate this fries which was supposed to be popular.
And actually there are many fries stores around,
but please don't be deceived!
Cause Amsterdam's fries are just mehhh....
not impressive at all.
Ate the best fries ever over in Belgium tho!
 First museum stop: FOAM MUSEUM
It is actually a photography museum.
I think from time to time, there are actually different exhibitions going on.
I recommend it if you are interested in photography!
They do offer many different interesting and bold perspectives.
Even though, the Amsterdam city card entitles me for free transport,
i actually walked the entire journey of Day 1.
Worse of all, i actually have my backpack with me.
It was extremely tiring at the end of the day...
But it do allow me to see the city,
and enjoy the beauty of it.
Walked past Heineken building, but did not go in.
If you did not know, Heineken is actually started in Amsterdam in 1864.
For those that is interested,
Heineken Experience:
Which includes beer tasting and museum.
Cost:
Adults above 16: $18.00 Euros
Purchase online: $16.00 Euros (Print out ticket)
As the day went by, the clouds cleared and blue sky start to appear(:
How nice is it to see fluffy white clouds with blue sky!
Rest stop over at a waffle shop near where the "I amsterdam" words are at.
These waffles were pretty normal...
Real waffles are from Belgium!
Outside of Riksmuseum Amsterdam.
It was not covered under the card i bought,
so i gave it a miss and went over to Van Gogh Museum.
I am not really a museum museum kind of person.
But if you do like history and museums, you probably should visit it.
Did not take much photos over at Van Gogh Museum
other than this view that i took at the 3rd level.
There are different levels and if you want to see everything in detail,
you will probably need more than 1/2 day to do it.
Dinner over at a really small burger place.
It was near the red light district but i forgot the name for it!
The portion was too big and since my stomach was not feeling too well,
i packed it back to be supper/ breakfast.

After that, was a walk in the infamous Red Light District,
where the "fish tanks", "mushroom" shops and "cafes" were at.
Definitely an eye-opener for a Singaporean,
when everything is ban and illegal in Singapore.
I highly recommend you to take a walk through it!
I do not think that it is dangerous if you were to go there,
with more than one person.
Also, i do see police patrolling around that area.
Alternatively, you can choose to join the:
SANDELMAN Red light district tour.
Costs:
Adults: $14.00 Euros
Students: $12.00 Euros
Last stop before calling it a day- ICECREAM!
Got the nutella ice-cream that they are famous for, and hazelnut.
It was awesome after such a long day...
